The thorn of temptation can either build you or break you – the choice is yours. Though it may not be easy to overcome you can if you want the victory bad enough. You are not the only person being tempted so do not think it strange that you are. You cannot worry about what the crowd is doing or what others will say if you are different; rather you must keep your mind focus on the word of God and He will keep you from falling. The scripture in 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “You have never been tempted to sin in any different way than other people. God is faithful.” God always make a way out but sometimes people allow their flesh to rule over them. As a result a door is left open for the tempter to come in—what does he do? He seduces your clothes off of you because you are not strong enough to say no and let your no mean no. God is faithful and if you want to be saved you will be saved if you let Him in to control everything about you including your body parts.
God will not allow you to be tempted more than you can take. But when you are tempted, He will make a way for you to keep from falling into sin Click To Tweet
Many times the writing is written in bold letters on the wall but because of the lust of the eyes, the lust of the heart and the lust of the flesh people become blinded in their desire to have what they want, when they want it, at the wrong time and with the wrong person. After the act many feel a sense of guilt and shame and tries to hide the deed done but you cannot run nor hide from God. He will find you and arrest you in the midst of your bed of lust and deliver you then, He’ll use you to become a public directory for the message of Jesus Christ. James 1:1 – 18 says, “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.”
Lust is not just sex or being promiscuous, some people lust for a lavish lifestyle that they cannot afford and it cause them to become pathological liars – they always have a story but it is never the truth. On the other hand for others their lust is pornography, clubbing, drinking, bullying and defrauding others – they always have a scheme to the next big thing that will never materialize into anything of substance. You may also find it strange but for some people lust is to just be bad and do wicked things to others such as raping, murdering, stealing, kidnapping, magical arts and witchcraft – Yet in the midst of it all God wants to heal you and save you before it cost you everything including your life. Temptation can lead to pangs of destruction and death if it is not curtailed from the root. The spirit of temptation has caused many great men and women that held high offices to fall from grace with their faces covered in shame and disgrace – the words if I had known became their daily bread. You have a choice and that does not have to be your portion. The scripture in James 1:12-14 says, “The man who does not give up when tests come is happy. After the test is over, he will receive the crown of life. God has promised this to those who love Him. God Does Not Tempt Us. When you are tempted to do wrong, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God cannot be tempted. He will never tempt anyone. A man is tempted to do wrong when he lets himself be led by what his bad thoughts tell him to do.”
God’s grace is sufficient to keep you when temptation knocks on your door. Jesus Himself went through temptation and He passed every test. You can too, by using the word of God to defend your case. Each time Jesus was tempted he used the scriptures on the tempter. The scripture in Luke 4 says, “Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit when He returned from the Jordan River. Then He was led by the Holy Spirit to a desert. He was tempted by the devil for forty days and He ate nothing during that time. After that He was hungry. The devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to be made into bread.” Jesus said to him, “It is written, ‘Man is not to live by bread alone.” The devil took Jesus up on a high mountain. He had Jesus look at all the nations of the world at one time. The devil said to Jesus, “I will give You all this power and greatness. It has been given to me. I can give it to anyone I want to. If You will worship me, all this will be Yours.” Jesus said to the devil, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You must worship the Lord your God. You must obey Him only.’” Then the devil took Jesus up to Jerusalem. He had Jesus stand on the highest part of the house of God. The devil said to Jesus, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written, ‘He has told His angels to care for You and to keep You. In their hands they will hold You up. Then Your foot will not hit against a stone.” Jesus said to the devil, “It is written, ‘You must not tempt the Lord your God.” When the devil finished tempting Jesus in every way, he went away from Jesus for awhile.”
Walk away from the temper – the father of lies, lust, degradation, stealing and death today. Satan knows that his time is short – he will do whatever he can to deceive you and that means tempting you into doing the things that will cost you your family, job, happiness, joy and even your life. You may feel like you can’t make it without the lust of that thing that has now become apart of you, but God has the vehicle that delivers the undeliverable into the place of glory and causes the story to change. Refocus your mind on the things of God and activate your prayer life so that you will be able to stand in all seasons. Your promise is waiting for you but you cannot get to it if you are participating in evil acts, you must relinquish it and do the things that are pleasing in the eyes of the Father in heaven. Romans 12: 1 – 2 says, “I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Do not walk with question marks in your mind anymore God is able to do the exceedingly and the abundantly for you – you were His promised seed in the beginning and you will also be in the end.
“This is the last thing I want to say: Be strong with the Lord’s strength. Put on the things God gives you to fight with. Then you will not fall into the traps of the devil. Our fight is not with people. It is against the leaders and the powers and the spirits of darkness in this world. It is against the demon world that works in the heavens. Because of this, put on all the things God gives you to fight with. Then you will be able to stand in that sinful day. When it is all over, you will still be standing. So stand up and do not be moved. Wear a belt of truth around your body. Wear a piece of iron over your chest which is being right with God. Wear shoes on your feet which are the Good News of peace. Most important of all, you need a covering of faith in front of you. This is to put out the fire-arrows of the devil. The covering for your head is that you have been saved from the punishment of sin. Take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.”~Ephesians 6:10 – 18
